In this talk I will look at why we should adopt a humanistic approach when engaging with and supporting teenagers, particularly in the context of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL). The presentation explores the key principals that form the foundation of this approach, including empathy, respect, and individualised attention, highlighting the value of nurturing emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills. By fostering an inclusive and safe environment that encourages teenagers to express themselves, we can engage them in the learning process.
I will offer practical examples and evidence-based techniques to illustrate how SEL can be seamlessly integrated into your educational context and curriculum. I will demonstrate how SEL can contribute to improved mental health, enhanced self-esteem, better communication skills, and the development of 21st Century competencies.
The primary objective of this talk is to shed light on the transformative potential of a humanistic approach to teenagers' Social and Emotional Learning. By emphasizing empathy, providing practical examples, and promoting emotional well-being, we can equip adolescents with the tools they need to thrive in an ever-changing world.
